America's Promise

     The Alliance for Youth

America's Promise The Alliance for Youth, founded by General Colin Powell, is dedicated to mobilizing individuals, groups and organizations from every part of American life, to build and strengthen the character and competence of our nation's youth.

America's Promise is committed to the fulfillment of five basic promises necessary for children to become successful adults:

  • An ongoing relationship with a caring adult parent, mentor, tutor, or coach;
  • A safe place with structured activities during non-school hours;
  • A healthy start;
  • A marketable skill through effective education;
  • An opportunity to give back through community service.

Approximately fifty member banks have enrolled and are a part of America's Promise.  Joining America's Promise means that you promise to continue sponsoring youth related activities in your community and that you will continue to increase your youth related activities.  Is you bank currently involved in Boys/Girls Clubs, Coaching, Junior Achievement, YMCA, or any other youth related program.  Then, chances are you are already a Bank of Promise.  If you have not officially enrolled your bank for this program through SCBA and would like more information, please contact Linda Parker or Katie Wilmesherr at the SCBA office, e-mail lindaparker@scbankers.org, katiewilmesherr@scbankers.org.
